| Auditions suck!
Well, I guess the more appropriate comment is that I suck. Yeah... this bites...
| Wow, classes start tomorrow! That's crazy! I still need to get books (hehe). Band has been interesting. There have been parties basically every night, and I've seen some interesting stuff, like drinking upside down from a beer keg, humping someone to pop a balloon, drinking from a glass being poured from the second story, people being thrown into pools, and some initiations. I hope that I can march next year so that I can get initiated!
However, I am having fun on props crew. Though there is one person in particular who gets on my nerves because he seems to think that I can't handle carrying stuff (btw, he was gone for 4 days and hasn't seen all the crap that we did during band camp), the rest of us are bonding. We played coneball: a game invented by the props crew a few years back where the bat is an orange cone, the ball is a football, and we play on a baseball field. There are as many teams as there are players. If you get hit by the ball while not on base, than you are out. Besides that, there are no rules. Without the ball, it'd be wrestling. I had a lot of battlescars from that, but it was TOTALLY worth it!
I get to have a radio! Basically, they asked for a volunteer, and all the rookies assumed it'd be for a bad job, but I still raised my hand, and then they handed me a walkie-talkie! lol Fun stuff. We're going to make up intersting names for people.
Well, I have to go get books and stuff. Luv you all!
| So, I'm safely at UGA for my first day at band camp. Props crew is going to be an interesting experience. I'll have to wait for a few more days before I can pass judgement, but I think it'll be fun (although I may wish that I had tried out for the mellophone line). I'm staying in a hotel that UGA has, and it is really nice. I'm rooming with a girl named Ally, a sophomore on props crew. She's really nice and a romantic like me, and on top of that, she'll be in Myers. We've already made plans to watch some movies together at some point. Hopefully everyday of band camp will be as productive and friendly.
You know those weird guys that only talk about video games or star wars in a really weird voice? Yeah, they're creepy, and I thought I left them behind in high school. Nope, they're here. At least one, anyways, and he's on props crew. On top of that, I think he somewhat resents women. Oh, well.
Oh, the drumline... hehe, j/k. I hope that the guys here aren't jerks. Good guy friends in general can be hard to find.
The lighter that I stole/hid from a friend in an effort to help him quit smoking came in handy (sp?) today. Fire = fun!
I love you all and really will miss that times we shared. Those memories of laughing at politically incorrect jokes, eating Chinese, talking about boys, complaining about senior projects, venting about band, studying (or avoiding doing so), and just being in your presences will be cherished in my heart forever. Farewell as I embrace a new life at UGA as the person that Columbus made me.
So, after saying goodbye to my parents and putting on my roadtrip music, as I take my first turn onto a major road from my house, I definitely went the wrong way. Talk about a great way to start my college career.
| Yesterday I saw Clerks II with a soldier/friend of the family. It was hilarious. I recommend it for all people who appreciate the inappropriate humor that overwhelms the male mind.
I helped make a diaper cake yesterday for a baby shower. It was precious.
My wallet was stolen/lost (probably stolen). That sucks. Some money gone. Debit and credit card cancelled. Some senior pictures are gone. At least my new license has a better picture (always try to find the silver lining). Never leave your purse unattended. I know that that is obvious, but I made a mistake. I've learned.
I'm glad that there are some gentlemen still around. Last night almost got bad, but at least there were some guys that were willing to stick up for me.
| So, I just got back from orientation. Yeah, being a music major is so confusing. Most people only had one advisor to worry about. I, however, had to get to two advisors that were on the opposite sides of campus (that was fun). While trying to get to my first appointment, I managed to get lost and not even know it despite the fact that I had a HUGE map with the bus routes on it.
I heard that Myers is nicer than Brumby. Yay!
Guess who is signed up for 8 classes but will be signed up for 9? You're right, it's me. Most of them are 1 hr music classes, but I know that it will take more than an hour of my time because of practicing and such. It sucks that for 4 hours of work I'll only get 1 hr of credit. Besides my music classes , I am signed up for honors mulitcultural english and honors intro to anthropology. No fun seminars. No time.
I hope that props crew isn't completely lame.
